West Ham United defender Jose Fonte thinks the Hammers have to be looking to finish in the Premier League's top ten due to the quality they have in the squad.

The London Stadium outfit have endured a poor start to the campaign, which has piled the pressure on manager Slaven Bilic.

However, a win over Swansea City and a draw at Burnley mean West Ham have taken four points from their last two games and sit in 15th spot, three points clear of the drop zone.

Fonte thinks the signs are that West Ham have turned the corner and he is looking for the Hammers to push on for a top ten finish.

"I feel we have turned the corner now and are getting better and better", Fonte told Match of the Day 2 Extra.

"You look at our squad individually and you have got to aim high – because we have people that have won trophies, people with experience and young players with a lot of quality.

"We have to aim high – at least top ten – because we have quality and the players to do that."

Bilic's side are next in action at home against Brighton on Friday night and the Hammers boss will be targeting the game against the Seagulls for all three points.

West Ham then take a break from league duties by travelling to Tottenham Hotspur for a midweek EFL Cup tie.
