Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain insists he is ready whenever Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp needs him, after he came off the bench and scored his first goal for the club in a 7-0 romp over Maribor in the Champions League.

Liverpool went into the game in Slovenia having been guilty of missing a hatful of chances in recent weeks, but the cobwebs were brushed off as Maribor were picked apart.

Klopp's side were 4-0 up at the break and did not ease off in the second half as they scored a further three times without reply to register their biggest Champions League win in almost a decade.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was introduced from the bench by Klopp in the 57th minute and got in on the scoring, grabbing his first goal for the club with four minutes left.

Oxlade-Chamberlain also vowed to be ready when called upon by Klopp.

"We started with the right intensity, the manager said it would be a tough game and we couldn't be complacent", he told BT Sport.

"Even at half-time he was pushing for us to do better and we got everything we deserved.

"We were very clinical and putting almost all of our chances away. It feels like we have a lot of goals in us, we create a lot of chances.

"This is a competitive team, we have had a few results that have not gone our way and I'm ready whenever I get an opportunity", Oxlade-Chamberlain added.

Liverpool paid a fee of between £35m and £40m to Arsenal in the summer transfer window to take the midfielder to Anfield, a move which has ensured Oxlade-Chamberlain has no interruption to his Champions League career.
