Eddie Gray feels teams have worked out how to play against Leeds United, following the Whites’ 1-0 loss to Reading at the weekend.

Thomas Christiansen’s team started the season in great fashion and found themselves at the top of the Championship table after going unbeaten in their opening seven league games, winning five of those.

But Leeds are currently sixth in the standings after losing four of their last five league outings, with the latest defeat coming at the hands of Reading last Saturday.

Mo Barrow’s late strike at Elland Road helped the Royals to sink the Yorkshire giants, who missed an opportunity to draw the game as Pablo Hernandez missed an injury-time penalty.

Leeds have been playing in a 4-2-3-1 formation and Gray believes the system is not quite working at the moment as the other teams now know how to tackle the Whites.

“A neutral looking on would say that Reading, as the away team, deserved the win”, the Leeds legend was quoted as saying by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“The penalty at the end would have been a bit like getting out of jail and I think Thomas would have been very happy with a point.

“He wants his team to pass out from the back, you can see that, but the passing has to be quicker.

“It was slow coming out and every time, players were picking their heads up and seeing Reading lined up in front of them with no space in behind.

“With the type of player we’ve got, we have to be moving the ball at pace.

“Confidence helps but the confidence is probably down because the system isn’t quite working.

“The season’s settled now and teams have had a chance to have a good look at us now.

“The teams we’ve played recently knew what to do.”

Leeds, who have 20 points from 12 games will next take on Bristol City on Saturday.
