Benfica winger Eduardo Salvio has insisted that he does not believe his team-mates are in any way inferior to the Manchester United players.

The Portuguese giants are in desperate need of points after losing their opening two Champions League games and will be hosting group leaders Manchester United tonight at the Estadio da Luz.

While Benfica are struggling in their group at the moment, Salvio struck a defiant note and stressed that he does not believe his team are inferior to Manchester United’s superstars.

The Benfica winger insisted that Benfica have the players to match Manchester United on the pitch and is confident that his team can inflict pain on Jose Mourinho’s men in front of their fans tonight.

Salvio was quoted as saying by A Bola: “We will be facing a very strong team, but we’ll try to impose our ideas.

“We also have our players and to be honest, I don’t feel inferior to anyone.

“The two teams have great players, but I don’t think [Ander] Herrera is better than Pizzi or [Romelu] Lukaku is better than Raul [Jimenez] or Jonas [Oliveira].

“It also doesn’t seem to me that their defenders have more experience than Luisao.

“We can hurt Manchester United.”

Manchester United, who have won their opening two games, are looking to get one more win under their belt and take one more step towards entering the last 16 of the Champions League.
