Ex-Rangers defender Clint Hill has revealed that he holds no grudges towards Gers boss Pedro Caixinha, who decided to offload him the summer.

The 38-year-old was roped in by former Rangers boss Mark Warburton on a one-year deal from Queens Park Rangers in the summer of 2016.

Although Hill was one of the rare consistent performers for the Light Blues last season, Caixinha, who was appointed by the club as their new manager in March, decided against offering the veteran centre-back a new contract at the end of the season.

But Hill, who scored six goals in 31 games for Rangers, besides helping their defence, said that there were no hard feelings between himself and Caixinha.

The former QPR man went on to add that Caixinha was respectful in the manner in which the Portuguese informed him about his decision.

“Oh no, there was nothing [hard feelings] like that”, Hill told SportTimes.

“That is football.

“It was very respectful in the way he spoke to me about it.

“There were no text messages or phone calls, it was face-to-face and we were looking at each other explaining our reasons.

“I have got a lot of respect for that.

“That is the way I want to be handled as a player so there were no complaints or any animosity from me.

“Obviously I would have loved to have stayed at that club because once you leave you realise how special a place it is.

“But there is absolutely no animosity towards the manager and I just want Rangers to do well now.”

Hill, who scored a dramatic late equaliser to salvage a point for Rangers in their 1-1 draw with Celtic in Parkhead in March, currently turns out for League Two outfit Carlisle United.
