Brendan Rodgers believes his Celtic side looked "very good" at times during their 3-0 defeat at Bayern Munich, as he bowed to the Bavarians' quality.

Rodgers' men were looking to cause a shock in the Champions League group stage clash in Germany, but suffered an early setback when Thomas Muller scored from close range in the 17th minute, the striker taking advantage of Craig Gordon palming out a header from Robert Lewandowski.

It was 2-0 in the 29th minute when Joshua Kimmich guided a header into the back of the net from a Kingsley Coman cross.

Bayern Munich's third goal was also a header, with Mats Hummels chipping in and securing a comfortable victory for the Bundesliga giants.

Rodgers admits he was disappointed with the goals Celtic conceded, but was on the whole pleased with several aspects to the Bhoys' play, along with the honest performance his team turned in.

"Disappointed with the goals. There were lots of moments in the game when we looked comfortable", Rodgers told BT Sport.

"At times when we went into their half we looked very good.

"Lots of the game I was really pleased with.

"Once they get the first goal it gives them the confidence. In the goals we could have been better than we were.

"The guys gave an honest performance and I was happy with that. We have to respect where we are in terms of the players we're playing against.

"Hopefully at home we can be better, create our chances and take them", the Celtic manager added.

The other game in Celtic's group saw Paris Saint-Germain visit Belgium and beat Anderlecht 4-0.
