Luke Ayling says he has been in the best form of his career since joining Leeds United, after he signed a new deal with the club.

The 26-year-old, who joined Leeds from Bristol City in the summer of 2016, put pen to paper on a new four-year deal on Thursday which will keep him at Elland Road until 2021.

Ayling made 44 appearances in all competitions for Leeds last season under then boss Garry Monk, with the defender managing to hold onto his spot in the team after Thomas Christensen took charge of the club in the summer.

But the former Yeovil Town man admitted that while he has not been at his best in the last few games, he intends to find his top form soon.

“I think over the last 18 months I’ve been in the best form of my career”, he said on LUTV.

“Maybe the last few games were not my best but I’m sure I’ll come back to the quality where I’ve been.

“But yes, ever since I signed I think I’ve really played well and held the right-back spot to myself.

“We’ve some really good full-backs so hopefully I can keep on doing that.”

Ayling, who has made 15 appearances in all competitions for Leeds this season, is in line to face his former employers Bristol City at the weekend.
