Neil Redfearn has revealed his doubts about the quality of the Leeds United squad ahead of the January transfer window.

Leeds recruited heavily in the summer transfer window and a good start to the season appeared to have justified their decision to sign players from the European rather than home market.

However, Leeds have massively tailed off over the last few weeks and have lost four of their last five league games, sending them tumbling down to sixth in the league table.

Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani has insisted that a top six finish is the goal, but ahead of the January window there are concerns that Leeds could be forced into more recruitment.

Director of football Victor Orta has indicated that there might not be heavy business done in January, but Redfearn feels that the jury is still out on whether the current squad are good enough to push for promotion.

Asked if Leeds will have to change their January plans, the former head coach said on Radio Yorkshire: “It depends on how they view the season.

“Radrizzani basically said that he wants to get into the playoffs with Leeds this season, but whether the group are good enough to get into the playoffs is debatable.

“They have recruited a lot of players and we are, rightly or wrongly, judging them after eleven games, but whether they are good enough to get Leeds up, we don’t know really.”, he explained.

“So it would be churlish to say they are not going to do any business or there is going to be no activity.”
