Neil Redfearn admits that a move for Preston North End striker Jordan Hugill would be good for Leeds United in the January transfer window.

The positivity at Leeds following a good start to the season is gradually evaporating as the Whites have hit a bad patch of form which has seen them lose four of their last five league games.

Currently on a three-game losing streak and sixth in the league table, many are already looking at the January window for solutions and a new striker could be on the cards.

Preston are believed to be prepared to listen to offers for Hugill in the winter window and Redfearn feels the striker would be a good addition to the Whites squad.

The former Leeds head coach believes the striker’s experience of playing in the Championship would be crucial for Leeds, who recruited heavily from the European market in the summer.

“He’s a good player and probably bit more mobile than [Pierre-Michel] Lasogga", Redfearn said on Radio Yorkshire.

“He’s that type – big strong centre forward and he is in a good vein of form at this moment in time and probably understands the level a bit more.

“That’s no slant on the players Leeds have brought in, but they haven’t played at this level.

“He would be a good signing for Leeds, no doubt.”

The 25-year-old, who has scored six goals this season in all competitions, has a contract until next summer with Preston and the Deepdale outfit may want to realise a fee for him in January.
