Chelsea manager Antonio Conte admits his team have had little luck in terms of injuries since the start of the season following their 3-3 draw against Roma in the Champions League.

The Premier League champions found themselves 3-2 down in the second half after being 2-0 up, before Eden Hazard’s glancing header earned them a point at Stamford Bridge.

Conte has not been happy about the strength of his squad since the transfer window and injuries to key players such as N’Golo Kante have further aggravated the situation.

The Chelsea manager does not want to talk about the players who are missing due to injuries, but the Italian feels luck has not been in his side’s favour since the start of the season.

Conte told Italian broadcaster Premium Sport: “We don’t have to talk about the missing players and we have to give our best.

“We have been the same for a while and we have been a bit unlucky since the start of the season. I have to protect players such as David Luiz.

“We drew against a very good Roma side and I have only praise for my players.”

The Chelsea boss admits that he is being forced to change systems and improvise to bring his side back to some sort of rhythm and get them back on track.

But he was not happy about his players’ failure to control the game even after scoring the first two goals against Roma.

“I have to bring the team back to their levels. When you change systems, you risk playing on improvisation.

“What I didn’t like despite being 2-0 up, we were never able to dominate the match.”

Chelsea are without a win in three games in all competitions ahead of Watford’s visit to Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
