Neil Redfearn believes Leeds United should bring Ronaldo Vieira back into the fold and make him feel loved as they need his qualities on the pitch, while he thinks someone at the club is not a big fan of the midfielder.

The 19-year-old midfielder was a huge part of the Leeds team last season, but things have changed under new head coach Thomas Christiansen and he is still waiting for his first league start this term.

The youngster has only made three appearances from the bench this season in the Championship and his treatment this term has left Redfearn surprised.

The former Leeds boss feels the young midfielder has everything that the Whites midfield need at the moment after a poor run of form and he should be brought back into the scheme of things.

He is certain Vieira will turn out to be a important player for the Whites this season if he feels loved again at Elland Road, but believes it is clear someone at the club does not rate him highly.

Redfearn said on Radio Yorkshire: “The Vieira one surprises me a little bit.

“There is obviously someone in the hierarchy who doesn’t fancy him because he missed games and not fit, but if he’s training get him in as he’s a young guy and he’s fit.

“He gives you athleticism, a physical presence, his game understanding came on ten-fold last year and I think he is something that Leeds miss, they need that type.

“Get him back in and make him feel loved and part of it because he could be a big ally for Leeds this season.”

The Leeds academy product earned huge praise for his performances last season and has already made 45 senior appearances for the club.
