Fortuna Sittard have succeeded in tying Ajax, Bayern Munich and Liverpool admired defender Perr Schuurs down to a new contract.

Schuurs has spent time training with Liverpool's youngsters, under the watchful eye of Steven Gerrard, and is already Fortuna Sittard's captain at the tender age of 17.

Fortuna Sittard coach Sunday Oliseh has been living in fear of losing the highly rated centre-back, but he can now sleep easier after Schuurs penned a new contract with the Dutch second tier side.

Schuurs' new deal at Fortuna Sittard runs until 2020; his previous deal ran until 2019.

The defender insists he feels happy at the club and is pleased to have considerable faith placed in his young talents, which was key to convincing him to put pen to paper.
