Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen thinks that the side's roaring start to the season in the Championship created the wrong expectations.

Christiansen had a dream start to life as Leeds boss and the Whites were top of the table after seven games by 12th September, with 17 points collected.

Fast-forward to 20th October and now Leeds have just three points more and have dropped down to sixth spot, following a run of four defeats in their last five league games.

Questions are being asked of Christiansen and the side's recruitment in the summer, but the head coach is staying level headed.

And he believes that Leeds' start to the season created unfair expectations.

"The surprise was probably that we started too good and created an expectation that was perhaps not the right one", he said at a press conference, ahead of his side's meeting with Bristol City on Saturday.

"But it is much better to have started that way than to come from losing."

Leeds lost prolific striker Chris Wood in the summer, to Premier League side Burnley, while goalkeeper Rob Green and centre-back Kyle Bartley are also no longer at the club.

But Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani has insisted that a top six finish is the minimum target for Christiansen to achieve this season.
