Former Leeds United midfielder David Prutton believes Thomas Christiansen is aware that the Whites are still very much a work in progress, but feels top six should still be their aim.

After a good start to the season, Leeds have stumbled over the last few weeks and are currently on a three-game losing streak in the Championship.

With only one win in their last five Championship fixtures, the positivity around Leeds has been quickly evaporating, but Prutton feels Leeds should manage expectations and not feel too high or low because of performances.

He is certain that Christiansen is keeping his calm and composure and feels the Leeds manager is aware that he is in a rebuilding phase at Leeds this season.

However, Prutton is still confidence that despite the current poor run, a top six finish should be Leeds’ aim at the end of the season.

He wrote in his column for the Yorkshire Evening Post: “After the start they had you get cautiously optimistic but you can’t get carried away.

“While I don’t want to say they have been brought back to Earth with a bump, these last few games have shown that over the course of the season, getting too high and getting too low about anything won’t stand anyone in good stead, especially from a managerial point of view.

“But from the outside, Thomas Christiansen doesn’t look like the sort of person who is fretting as he knows it is very much a work in progress.

“From what I have seen so far, I think Leeds should be looking at the top six.”

Leeds’ recent away form has been poor, but they will be looking to turn a corner when they take on Bristol City at Ashton Gate later today.
