Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner is to start plotting Liverpool's downfall on Sunday, after his men scored a famous 2-1 win over Jose Mourinho's Manchester United.

The Terriers started as big underdogs at the John Smith's Stadium in the Premier League fixture, but took the lead through Aaron Mooy in the 28th minute, while a Laurent Delpoitre goal five minutes later left the visitors reeling.

Huddersfield produced a display full of energy against a sloppy and out of sorts Manchester United side and although the Red Devils gave themselves hope when substitute Marcus Rashford scored 12 minutes from time, they could not find a second.

Wagner's men held on for a famous win and the German is keen to soak it up before he prepares his side for their next game, which is away at Liverpool next weekend.

The Huddersfield boss was quoted as saying by the BBC: "I said to the players that I wouldn’t expect a result, but that I can believe in a result.

"That is why it so huge for us. It’s a very proud moment, that we were able to beat Manchester United at home.

"In one game you can have a chance. If there is a chance, try to catch it.

"Today was our moment because we were at our best and maybe they weren’t.

"It is one of the proudest moments in my career.

"It makes me very happy.

"I don’t like to think about the game against Liverpool today.

"It’s only about this win. We will think about Liverpool tomorrow morning", Wagner added.

Huddersfield now have just one point less than Liverpool in the Premier League, 12 to Liverpool's 13, though the Reds have a game in hand, which comes on Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur.
