Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson does not believe the Reds should be overly worried about Huddersfield Town next weekend as their win over Manchester United were largely due to mistakes from Jose Mourinho’s men.

The Merseyside giants suffered another chastening away defeat at Tottenham Hotspur when Mauricio Pochettino’s men hammered them 4-1 at Wembley.

Liverpool have dropped down to ninth in the Premier League table and have just one league win under their belt in the last six games, leading to questions over their progress under Jurgen Klopp.

A confident Huddersfield side, who handed Manchester United their first league defeat of the season on Saturday, will be visiting Anfield next weekend, but Lawrenson is not too concerned about facing the Terries.

He was blunt in his assessment of Huddersfield’s win and has insisted that it was largely Manchester United’s doing rather than David Wagner’s side outplaying their opponents.

Lawrenson said on LFC TV: “I was there yesterday; Manchester United gifted Huddersfield two goals.

“Huddersfield were good, but it was large parts due to Manchester United [making mistakes].

“I wouldn’t be too worried about Huddersfield with whoever we play.”

Liverpool, whose defensive issues have been a theme for a while, have already conceded 16 goals this season in the league.
