Former Scotland defender Willie Miller has termed Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha's behaviour at Hampden a "disgrace" after the Portuguese was sent to the stands in the Gers' 2-0 Scottish League Cup semi-final defeat at the hands of Motherwell.

Caixinha was left frustrated at a number of refereeing decisions in the cup tie, after Rangers dominated the first half but failed to convert any of their opportunities.

The Portuguese could not control his emotions when Ryan Bowman elbowed Fabio Cardoso, leaving blood streaming from the defender's face, and he faced up to Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson.

Both managers were sent to the stands and Miller says the way Caixinha acted was wrong.

"Ryan Bowman should have been sent off. He smashed Cardoso's nose with his elbow, for the second time", Miller said on BBC Radio 5 live.

"For me it was at least an automatic ordering off, at least a second booking.

"That's where Caixinha lost it, lost it completely.

"As a Rangers manager, as any manager, you cannot do that.

"It was a disgrace. His performance out there was a disgrace. He was sent to the stands. Stephen Robinson getting himself involved should have walked away from it also.

"But his team is not good enough, simply not good enough."

The defeat means Rangers have still not won three matches in a row under Caixinha and further pressure has been piled onto the Portuguese.

Motherwell meanwhile will now bid to stop Celtic retaining the Scottish League Cup.
