Arsene Wenger thinks Arsenal could have done a better job with their finishing against Everton, following his side’s 5-2 win at Goodison Park on Sunday.

The Gunners, who lost 2-1 to Watford last weekend, fell behind in the 12th minute, courtesy of Wayne Rooney’s goal.

Despite being the more dominant team Arsenal struggled to breach Everton’s defence until Nacho Monreal equalised for the visitors close to the half-time break.

Mesut Ozil then put Arsenal ahead early in the second half, with Alexandre Lacazette further extending their lead in the 70th minute.

Aaron Ramsey got his name on the scoresheet in the 90th minute before Everton pulled one back through Oumar Niasse in injury-time; but Alexis Sanchez still had time to score one more goal for Arsenal with virtually the last kick of the match.

Although the north London club managed to find the back of the five times against the Toffees, they were guilty of squandering chances on Merseyside.

And Wenger, who was pleased overall with Arsenal’s display at Goodison Park, however feels his side may have slightly lacked in the finishing department.

“I think the quality [from the team] was there today and we had all kinds of tests because we were 1-0 down after having started well, so it was a good mental test”, he told Arsenal Player.

“After that, offensively and defensively, we played very well on the whole and it was good, our quality of passing was good, finishing maybe we could have done a little bit better if you want to be absolutely harsh, but overall we had the quality.”

Arsenal will next face Norwich City in an EFL Cup game on Tuesday night.
