Dele Alli has revealed that he enjoyed playing in a new role during Tottenham Hotspur’s 4-1 win over Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.

The 21-year-old, who has been mostly deployed by Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino as an attacking midfielder in the current campaign, played deeper, in the centre of midfield at Wembley against the Reds.

Alli looked comfortable playing as a central midfielder and even found the back of the net on the brink of half time to put Tottenham 3-1 up.

And the youngster, who explained that he played in central midfield during his time at MK Dons, said that he relished playing in that position once again on Sunday.

Alli went on to add that he is open to playing in any position Pochettino asks him to.

“It’s a bit different to where I’ve been playing, but I’m comfortable there”, he said on Spurs TV, when asked if he enjoyed his new role against Liverpool.

“I played the majority of my career there – when I was growing up at MK.

“So it’s not something that I’m not used to.

“It felt good playing there again and I ‘m happy to play anywhere for this team.

“If the manager asks me to play there, I’ll do it and hopefully I put in a good performance.”

Alli has thus far made 10 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham this season, scoring four times and setting up one goal.
