Eddie Gray feels there is no reason why Leeds United cannot repeat their heroics against Burnley in the EFL Cup at Leicester City on Tuesday.

The Whites, who put an end to their three-game losing streak by beating Bristol City 3-0 at the weekend, edged out Premier League outfit Burnley on penalties in the third round of the EFL Cup in late September.

Leeds are next up against Leicester City in the domestic cup competition and Gray backed Thomas Christiansen’s team to win the contest at the King Power Stadium.

The Whites legend, who believes beating a Premier League team will do Leeds a world of good in boosting their confidence, however was quick to add that the Yorkshire giants’ real big game of the week will be against Sheffield United in the Championship on Friday.

“There will be changes in the team but it’s a game you want to win”, Gray told LUTV, when asked about the game against Leicester City.

“You want to go as far as you can in these competitions.

“Everybody talks about confidence of the team and nothing gives you more confidence than progressing in cup ties by beating Premier League opposition.

“We won against Burnley and there is no reason why we can’t go to Leicester and do the same; they will probably make changes.

“But the big game for us really is next Friday night against Sheffield United.”

While Leicester City, who sacked their manager Craig Shakespeare earlier in the month, are currently 14th in the Premier League table, Leeds presently find themselves fourth in the Championship standings.
