Liverpool Under-23 boss Neil Critchley has insisted that there is no better way for his side to bounce back in the league than by playing Manchester United.

The young Reds, who saw their unbeaten start to the season come to an end with a 2-0 loss to Derby County last week, are next up against their arch-rivals Manchester United at Leigh Sports Village tonight.

Despite the loss against Derby, Liverpool still find themselves at the top of the Premier League 2 Division One table with 18 points from seven games.

On the other hand, the young Red Devils are rock-bottom in the table with just five points from seven outings; they are winless in their last five league games, losing four of those.

And Critchley, who feels games between the clubs at any level are extra special, explained that he is looking forward to his team returning to winning ways with a win over Manchester United.

"It was disappointing to lose our unbeaten start to the season at Derby but there’s no better way for us to bounce back than playing Manchester United”, he was quoted as saying by Liverpool’s official site.

“Because of the history of both clubs, when Liverpool meet Manchester United at any level there’s a bit more on the game with both sides desperate to win, but our approach will be just like any other game with our objective to try to win.

“We are looking forward to playing at Leigh.

“I’m sure there will be a few supporters there and the players will all want to be in our team."

Last season Liverpool drew 1-1 with Manchester United at Leigh before losing the corresponding fixture 1-0.
