Dele Alli has explained that although Tottenham Hotspur want to win every game they play, the club’s next game against West Ham in the EFL Cup is a bit more important as the Spurs fans want to win the match as much as the players.

Tottenham, who thrashed Liverpool 4-1 in the Premier League at Wembley on Sunday, will next welcome their London rivals West Ham for the cup game on Wednesday night.

Alli said that Spurs cannot afford to dwell on their impressive win over the Reds as he called on his side to prepare well for the game against the Hammers.

And the 21-year-old, who insisted that Tottenham always play to win every game, however explained that the fixture against West Ham holds extra importance for his side due to the sentiments of the fans.

“We want to win every game and do well as much as we can in every competition”, Alli said on Spurs TV, when asked about the upcoming game against West Ham.

“It’s about recovering now and making sure we prepare.

“We’ve to put this game behind us now and I’m sure the gaffer will bring up some points that we need to improve on and we’ll look to improve them in the next game.

“We know how big it is for the fans.

“And like I said, we want to win every game and nothing changes there.

“But it makes a little bit more important when the fans want to win it as much as we do.

“So, we’re looking forward to it.”

While Tottenham currently find themselves third in the Premier League table with 20 points from nine games, West Ham are 16th in the standings with just eight points.
