Former Leeds United defender Ben Parker thinks Whites fans absolutely love Samu Saiz because the attacking midfielder makes things happen when he is on the ball.

Saiz, who joined Leeds from Spanish outfit SD Huesca on a four-year-deal last summer, has been in fine form for his new employers.

The 26-year-old has thus far made 17 appearances in all competitions for the Yorkshire giants, scoring eight times and setting up three goals.

Despite not finding the back of the net or providing an assist, Saiz put in a sublime performance in Leeds’ 2-1 win over Middlesbrough at the weekend, with the Elland Road faithful appreciating his display.

And Parker, who explained that Saiz has adjusted to life in the Championship even though he has come from a foreign country, feels the Spaniard’s ability to make things happen when he is on the ball is the reason why the Leeds fans love him so much.

“He’s unreal, what a player”, Parker said on LUTV.

“You can see the fans are absolutely loving him and rightly so because when he gets on the ball, you expect things to happen.

“And nine times out of ten, they actually do and his work ethic is fantastic.

“When players come over from a foreign country into the Championship, people always ask, ‘can they handle the physicality? Can they handle the speed?’

“Not only can he do that, he is head and shoulders above most people on the pitch.”

Saiz, whose present contract with Leeds runs until 2021, is a product of Real Madrid’s youth system.
