Jason McAteer thinks Liverpool have an attitude problem and that the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea have a different mentality to the Reds at the moment.

Liverpool, who drew 3-3 with Sevilla on Tuesday, were cruising at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium after taking a three-goal lead by the 30th minute.

But Jurgen Klopp’s team completely capitulated in the second half of their Champions League Group E encounter in Spain as Sevilla struck three times to shock the Merseyside giants.

And McAteer, who believes Liverpool surrendering their big lead against Sevilla was largely down to their attitude, insisted that he cannot see fellow Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester City not winning a game after going 3-0 up as they currently have a different mentality to the Anfield outfit.

“A lot of it is down to attitude”, he said on LFC TV, when asked to comment on Liverpool letting their lead slip at Sevilla.

“You've played completely different halves.

“I think it's an attitude problem with Liverpool and the reason I say that is I can’t see Manchester United doing it, I can’t see Manchester City doing it and I can't see Chelsea squandering a 3-0 lead away from home.

“I think they have a different mentality to us at the minute.”

Liverpool, who have had their fair share of defensive problems in the present campaign, are next up against Chelsea at Anfield on Saturday.
