Inter Milan are unlikely to reignite their interest in Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi during the January transfer window.

Mustafi was on Inter’s agenda during the summer transfer window and despite talk of the German wanting to leave, Arsenal managed to convince him to continue at the Emirates.

The defender has emerged as a key player for Arsenal this season and earned much credit for his performance against Tottenham during the north London derby last weekend.

Arsene Wenger has also spoke glowingly about Mustafi and the defender is unlikely to consider his future at the Emirates any time soon.

And according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri are also aware that they are unlikely to convince Mustafi to leave Arsenal during the January transfer window.

While Inter could still be interested in the Arsenal defender, they are unlikely to make an approach because of the seemingly impossible task of convincing the defender to switch mid-season.

However, it has been claimed that the defender could return to Inter's agenda in the summer and Mustafi could still opt to move to Italy at the end of the season.

Mustafi joined Arsenal from Valencia in the summer of 2016 and has a contract until 2021 with the club.
