Zinho Vanheusden’s serious injury has not moved Inter Milan from trying to hold on to the Liverpool target, it has been claimed.

The young centre-back is yet to make his first team debut for Inter Milan, but he was part of the Nerazzuri’s pre-season preparations in the summer.

The Premier League duo of Liverpool and Southampton were keen to snap up Vanheusden during the summer transfer window, with Sampdoria also credited with showing interest in the 18-year-old.

Vanheusden is currently sidelined with a serious knee injury and he is not expected to be fit before March.

However, according to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, Inter Milan are not prepared to lose the highly-rated starlet and are prepared to offer him a new deal, despite the Belgian currently being injured.

The Italian giants, who consider Vanheusden one of their future prospects, feel tying the defender down on a new deal will clear the transfer chatter surrounding him.

Vanheusden’s present contract with Inter Milan runs until 2019 and he has represented Belgium up to Under-21 level.
