Leeds United legend Eddie Gray believes Aston Villa will come to Elland Road with the intention of picking up a win tonight.

After an indifferent start to the season, Villa have picked up pace over the last month and are currently fourth in the league table on 35 points, just five points shy of the top two places.

Steve Bruce’s team will take on Leeds tonight at Elland Road and Gray believes it is a big game for them too as Aston Villa have legitimate ambitions of achieving automatic promotion this season.

He feels a club Villa’s size will be looking to finish in the top two despite the form of teams above them and believes they will come to Elland Road with the hope of picking up three points.

The Leeds legend told LUTV: “It’s a big match for them as well because Aston Villa, in this league, will still be harbouring thoughts of top two.

“It’s a target for most sides but for a club like that, they will be looking at top two.

"Above them are surprisingly teams such as Cardiff and Sheffield United, who keep winning games, so it won’t be easy for them.

“So they’ll be coming here with a frame of mind expecting to win the game and that’s what it’s got to be.”

Aston Villa failed to beat Leeds last season, getting a point at home and losing at Elland Road.

They are coming into the game on the back of a 0-0 draw against Birmingham City.
