The Barcelona hierarchy are debating amongst themselves over a potential expensive move for Liverpool creative midfielder Philippe Coutinho.

Coutinho was denied his dream move to Barcelona by Liverpool last summer despite slapping in a written transfer request and the Reds are not keen to sell him in January too.

But there are suggestions in Spain that the Brazilian has convinced the Merseyside giants to accept an offer around the €150m to €160m mark from Barcelona in the January transfer window.

The Catalan giants have been working in the background, preparing for another assault for the 25-year-old in January, but according to Spanish daily AS, the internal debates over a move for Coutinho have not been put to rest.

While Barcelona are aware of the quality of the footballer, some in the club hierarchy have suggested that the player is not the world star needed by the Catalan giants; he could become a club record signing.
