Jose Mourinho won’t agree to loan out Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the January transfer window without an obligatory purchase option, it has been claimed.

Mkhitaryan’s disappointing form this season means the Armenian has become a peripheral figure at Manchester United and has not been a big part of Mourinho’s plans.

He has not been part of Mourinho’s Premier League squad in the five of Manchester United’s last six games and last started a league game in early November.

There are suggestions that Manchester United are open to offers for the 28-year-old attacking midfielder in the January transfer window and a swap deal with Inter for Joao Mario has been mooted.

However, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, Manchester United’s demands are expected to make a deal complicated if Inter are interested in the Armenian.

Mourinho is not expected to agree to a simple loan option and wants an obligatory purchase option in any deal to allow Mkhitaryan to leave Manchester United next month.

Manchester United were left frustrated by Inter’s tactics in their summer chase for Ivan Perisic and they are unlikely to make it easy for the Nerazzurri to get Mkhitaryan.

Negotiations over his personal terms are also expected to be complicated as his agent Mino Raiola is known for being tough deal maker and is expected to extract the best contract for his client.
