Leeds United legend Eddie Gray admits that Norwich City have the ability to hurt teams, but believes they have been an average side this season.

Norwich are 16th in the league table and will be taking on Leeds, who are currently seventh in the Championship, later today at Elland Road.

Gray believes Leeds are approaching an important time in their season and need to win against the Canaries to continue to build on the momentum they have gained in recent weeks.

The Leeds legend said on LUTV: “I think the things are going well.

“This is an important time now. You look at the fixtures – Norwich and Hull at home, then Birmingham and Burton away and then you play Forest at home.

“We have got fixtures which are winnable and you have got to start with the Norwich game.”

The former Whites midfielder has conceded that on a given day Norwich are a dangerous side who can beat any team in the league.

However, Gray feels Norwich have been a side who have flattered to deceive in recent seasons and again have been an inconsistent and average team this season.

He added: “Norwich can be a funny side – they are not having a great time at this moment.

"They have flattered to deceive in the last couple of seasons and they are capable on their day of hurting teams as they did to Sheffield Wednesday.

“Other than that, if you look at the results, they are pretty average.”

Norwich are coming into the game on the back of a home win over Sheffield Wednesday.
