Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack admits he has been left baffled at how the Gers could lose 3-1 at home to St Johnstone after, in his opinion, playing Aberdeen off the park over a double header.

Graeme Murty, in caretaker charge at Ibrox, led Rangers to back to back Scottish Premiership wins over Aberdeen which saw the Gers replace the Dons in second spot in the table; Rangers beat Aberdeen 3-0 at Ibrox and then 2-1 at Pittodrie.

But a shock home defeat against Tommy Wright's men on Saturday saw Rangers drop out of second spot, with Aberdeen back up on leaders Celtic's coattails.

Jack is stunned at how Rangers could go from beating Aberdeen to losing against St Johnstone.

The midfielder, who says his side were not at it on Saturday, told Rangers TV after the game: "Everybody talks about momentum and everything is brilliant when you are winning games.

"We beat Aberdeen twice and there’s no doubt we played really well.

"So how can we turn up against Aberdeen, a double header, play the way we played, pretty much played them off the park at times, and then we turn up today and we are just not at it?

"As a player myself, and the rest of the players, we need take responsibility for that. It’s your own pride, it’s your own game that you have to get yourself up for", Jack added.

Rangers will bid to bounce back when they travel to Kilmarnock on Saturday.
