Former Scotland international Michael Stewart has noted the talk that Tony Pulis is on the radar for the Rangers manager's job and has no doubt he would make the Gers competitive.

Rangers are still looking for a new manager after sacking Pedro Caixinha in October and suffered a recent blow when Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes rebuffed an approach to remain at Pittodrie.

Caretaker manager Graeme Murty has been confirmed in his post until the new year, but Rangers have now begun to be linked with former West Brom boss Pulis.

Stewart has no doubt Pulis would get Rangers competing, but noted the Welshman's reputation for playing unattractive football.

"Tony Pulis has been touted", Stewart said on BBC Sportscene Extra.

"He certainly would make them competitive, that's for sure.

"The big accusation is that Pulis' teams are agricultural", he added.

It is unclear whether Pulis, who may command a substantial salary, is a contender for the job at Ibrox in the eyes of the Rangers board.

Pulis has also been linked with the vacant Wales job, following Chris Coleman's departure to take over at Championship side Sunderland.
