Borussia Dortmund are considering re-signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Manchester United, but no definite decision has been made.

The Armenian has become a peripheral figure this season at Manchester United after some insipid displays at the start of the campaign and only came on from the bench against Bristol City in Wednesday night's EFL Cup loss.

There are clear indications that Jose Mourinho no longer trusts the attacking midfielder as he has only made the matchday squad just once in Manchester United’s last seven Premier League games.

Mkhitaryan is said to be considering a move away from Old Trafford in January and has been linked with a move to Italy, with Inter Milan and Juventus believed to be interested.

And it seems he could have a chance to return to Dortmund as according to German magazine Kicker, BVB are considering the option of taking Mkhitaryan back to the Westfalenstadion.

With the departure of Ousmane Dembele and the injury troubles of Marco Reus, Dortmund are in need of another creative spark and the 28-year-old has emerged as an option.

Mkhitaryan’s departure from Dortmund last year did not happen under the most amicable of circumstances, but the club have not ruled out the possibility of reuniting with him.

The Armenian has a contract until 2020 with Manchester United, but Mourinho is expected to entertain offers for him in January.
