Former Celtic star Simon Donnelly feels Rangers will take lessons from Hearts’ recent win over the Bhoys, but is certain that Brendan Rodgers will get his team up and running again.

Celtic’s record breaking unbeaten run in Scottish domestic football screeched to a halt after 69 games when they suffered a shock 4-0 loss to Hearts last weekend.

While the game ended the invincibility surrounding Celtic, they got back to winning ways when they defeated Partick Thistle 2-0 at Paradise earlier this week.

However, ahead of the Old Firm derby at the end of the month, Donnelly believes Rangers can learn a lot from Hearts' win over Celtic and feels the Gers are in a much better place to compete with the Bhoys at the moment.

But he has insisted that Rodgers will shake off the defeat at Hearts and get his team ready to fire on all cylinders again before the derby comes around.

Donnelly told Betsafe: “I think Rangers will just have to look at Hearts' performance against Celtic.

“The whole league will take confidence from that and get in their faces, not giving them time to play the football we saw them playing over that run.

“I think they are in a better position this time round, but having said that, Brendan Rodgers will get Celtic ready again.

“I just feel after the jolt of the Hearts game, they will get back on track.”

Celtic have games against Aberdeen and Dundee before they host Rangers on 30th December.
