Real Madrid target Thibaut Courtois is in advanced negotiations with Chelsea over signing a new deal, it has been claimed.

The goalkeeper, whose present contract with Chelsea is due to expire in 2019, is reportedly wanted by Real Madrid next summer.

It was claimed in Spain that the player’s representatives have got in touch with Real Madrid regarding a possible transfer at the end of the season, with Courtois and his family wanting to return to the Spanish capital; the Belgium international was on loan at Atletico Madrid from Chelsea between 2011 and 2013.

But according to Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws, Real Madrid will have to act quickly if they want to snap up Courtois next summer as the 25-year-old is close to agreeing a new five-year deal with the Stamford Bridge outfit.

Los Blancos, who have been keeping tabs on Courtois, are expected to sign Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga in January.
