Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer has insisted that his side are ready for their high-voltage clash against Rangers on Saturday.

The Hoops, who beat Dundee 2-0 on Boxing Day, have won three Scottish Premiership matches on the trot since seeing their lengthy unbeaten domestic unbeaten run come to an end against Hearts earlier in the month.

Celtic have already faced their arch-rivals once in the present campaign when Brendan Rodgers’ team ran out 2-0 winners at Ibrox in late September.

And Ajer explained that Celtic are relishing the prospect of meeting Rangers at Paradise at the weekend, with the Scottish champions wanting to end the year with a win.

“We are ready for that game”, he told Celtic TV, when asked about the upcoming game against Rangers.

“It’s a big game and an opportunity to end 2017 with a win.

“We are really looking forward to it.”

Ajer, whose side are currently eight points clear at the top of the league table, went on to praise the Celtic fans.

“The fans – you see them every single day, they are unbelievable”, he continued.

“To play in front of those fans and to play for Celtic is a huge honour for me.”

Celtic are unbeaten in their last seven outings in all competitions against Rangers, winning six of those.

The last time the Gers tasted victory in the Glasgow derby was in the 2015/16 campaign, when they edged out Celtic on penalties in the Scottish Cup.
