Fiorentina have enquired about the possibility of signing West Ham midfield target Etienne Capoue in the January transfer window.

The 29-year-old French midfielder has not been a regular feature of Marco Silva’s Watford team this season and has only made five league starts, leading to speculation over his future at club.

David Moyes has been keen to take the midfielder to West Ham in the January window and is currently mulling over making a move for him this month.

However, the London club could now face competition for his signature as according to Sky Italia, Fiorentina have entered the transfer chase and have enquired about Capoue’s situation at Watford.

The Serie A outfit are considering taking him to Italy, but it is understood that his salary of €2m per year could be tricky for La Viola to match.

Capoue, who joined Watford from Tottenham Hotspur in 2015, will enter the final year of his contract with the Hornets next summer.

He has 104 Premier League appearances under his belt for two clubs.
