Brighton have entered the chase for Roma right-back Bruno Peres, who has been linked with a move to Benfica in the January transfer window.

The 27-year-old Brazilian defender has lost his place in the starting eleven in recent weeks and has been tipped to be on his way out of the Giallorossi in the winter window.

Benfica have been closely monitoring his situation and the Portuguese giants are keen to sign him from Roma but definitive talks between the two clubs are yet to take place.

And according to Sky Italia, Benfica could face competition from the Premier League as Brighton are considering a swoop for the Brazilian in this month’s transfer window.

Brighton have surpassed expectations on their return to the Premier League and are currently 12th in the table, but Chris Houghton remains keen to add players in order to keep his men out of the relegation dogfight in the second half of the campaign.
