Bordeaux president Stephane Martin has insisted that he will not be selling Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur wing target Malcom this month as his side need him to avoid relegation this season.

The 20-year-old Brazilian winger has been heavily linked with a move away from Bordeaux in this month’s transfer window, with a transfer to the Premier League believed to be on the cards.

Manchester United have been interested in signing him this month and even Tottenham are claimed to have tabled a bid for the player in the winter window.

However, Martin has claimed that the club and the player have agreed to continue their association until the end of the season and he admits that Bordeaux cannot afford to lose their best players this month.

Just a point off the relegation spots, the Bordeaux president conceded that he cannot afford to take any gambles in the winter window.

Talking about Malcom, Martin told French sports daily L’Equipe: “He will end the season with us because it’s been agreed that way.

“We are not going to part ways with our best players, because of the emergency situation we are in.

“On paper we don’t have a team that should go down, but the margins are fine at the moment.”

Malcom, who has a contract until 2021, has netted seven goals and provided four assists in 18 Ligue 1 appearances this season and has been Bordeaux’s chief attacking output.
