Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta has insisted that the club will respect all rules in their pursuit of Liverpool midfielder Emre Can.

The Germany midfielder has a contract until the end of the season with the Reds and he has been heavily tipped to move to Juventus in the summer on a free transfer.

Can recently indicated that he could consider signing a new contract with Liverpool even at this late stage, but Juventus are confident that they will get their man at the end of the campaign.

The outlines of deal are believed to have been agreed between the player and the Italian champions and Marotta stressed that Juventus are working on the right side of the rules in their pursuit of the 23-year-old.

The Juventus CEO conceded that there is competition for the midfielder’s signature, but he is keen to make sure that they respect Liverpool and the player as they look to attract him to Turin.

Marotta said in an interview with Sky Italia: “We know that Emre Can is a player who is towards the end of his contract and the rules allow us to have a relationship with him.

“This is the path we have underraken, but there is a lot of competition and we don’t know whether he wants to renew with Liverpool.

“He’s an excellent player and it is an excellent opportunity for us.

"We’ll do everything we can to exploit it.

"We must also respect the will of the player who is currently at Liverpool. We will respect Liverpool, the player and the rules.

“We will intensify contacts with them.”

Can has been insistent that he has not been in contact with any clubs despite the speculation of Juventus agreeing a contract with him.
