Tottenham Hotspur have initiated talks with Paris Saint-Germain to secure the signature of Manchester United linked winger Lucas Moura in the winter transfer window.

Lucas has been heavily linked with a move away from the French capital this month and PSG are also willing to let him go in order to make room on their wage bill.

The Brazilian winger has revealed his interest in playing in the Premier League and Manchester United are believed to be keen on him, but it seems another English club have joined the Lucas chase.

According to French sports daily L’Equipe, Tottenham have initiated contact with PSG and are keen to take the Brazilian to north London in this month’s transfer window.

Mauricio Pochettino wants to add to his Spurs squad in order to compete for a top four place this season and Lucas has emerged as a viable target for the north London outfit.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy negotiated a transfer for Serge Aurier with PSG last summer and is hopeful of doing business with the Parisians again.

The north London club are keen to sign Lucas on a loan deal but for the moment PSG are planning to sell as they look to meet UEFA’s Financial Fair Play norms following a summer of heavy spending.

PSG could agree to a loan deal if Tottenham are prepared to accept an option to sign the winger for a significant transfer fee later.

More talks are expected between the clubs and the player’s representatives in the coming days as they try and reach an agreement for Lucas.
