Roma have vetoed the idea of selling Edin Dzeko to Chelsea in the January transfer window, it has been claimed.

It emerged last night that Chelsea have offered €50m plus Michy Batshuayi on loan to Roma for the signatures of defender Emerson Palmieri and striker Dzeko.

The veteran Bosnian striker has found a new lease of life in Italy and has been the centre piece of Roma’s attack this season, scoring 12 goals in 26 appearances in all competitions.

The former Manchester City man caught the eye of many English observers again with a brace against Chelsea earlier in the season in the Champions League.

Antonio Conte has been keen to add to his attacking resources in January and Dzeko has emerged as Chelsea’s top target, but it seems Roma are not prepared to play ball.

According to Italian sports daily Corriere dello Sport, Roma have ruled out selling their top target man in January and have made it clear Dzeko won’t be leaving the Stadio Olimpico.

The Giallorossi are more than willing to negotiate Emerson's sale with Chelsea, but are unlikely to make Dzeko part of the talks with the Premier League champions.

There have been claims that Roma could sell the striker if Chelsea put in a better offer but for the moment the club seem unwilling to sell the 31-year-old Bosnian.
