Roma are insisting on including an obligatory purchase option in an agreement with Chelsea for defender Emerson Palmieri, who is also a target for Liverpool.

Chelsea have made a combined bid of €50m for Emerson and striker Edin Dzeko and have offered to send Michy Batshuayi to Roma on loan but there have been recent developments in the saga.

Roma are not likely to agree to sell Dzeko in the current window but are prepared to negotiate a transfer for Emerson with Chelsea in the coming days.

The two clubs agreed on the defender’s €25m valuation but there remains a key sticking point between them over the details of Emerson's potential move to Chelsea.

According to Italian sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport, Chelsea are keen to sign Emerson on a loan deal with an option to buy him, but Roma are insisting on including an obligatory purchase option.
