Anderlecht coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck is prepared to include Henry Onyekuru in his squad again this season if Everton provide their green signal.

The forward, who signed for Everton last summer before being loaned out to Anderlecht, suffered a serious knee injury last month and was expected to miss the rest of the season.

However, there is optimism that the Nigerian forward can return to action earlier than expected and could even play for Anderlecht again this season if his recovery progresses as expected.

Vanhaezebrouck has stressed if Everton and Anderlecht’s medical team give the Nigerian the go ahead to return to the pitch then he is prepared to include him in his squad.

However, the Anderlecht coach indicated that he will not take responsibility if Onyekuru is rushed back into playing football.

Vanhaezebrouck was quoted as saying by Belgian outlet Voetbalkrant: “If Everton say he is okay and we think he’s a hundred per cent, we can put him in.

“But if something happens, it’s not our fault.”

Onyekuru scored ten goals in 28 appearances this season for Anderlecht before suffering the knee injury.
