Athletic Bilbao are still waiting for Manchester City to trigger the buy-out clause in Aymeric Laporte’s contract and the proposed move could be delayed.

Manchester City have already agreed personal terms with the French defender and are prepared to trigger the release clause worth €65m in his contract with Athletic Bilbao.

The Premier League leaders were expected to deposit the sum on Thursday, but nothing happened and according to Mundo Deportivo, Athletic Bilbao are still waiting for Manchester City to make their move.

The operation looked relative straightforward but it has been claimed that the process is more complex than previously thought and a deal could be delayed for several days.

Athletic Bilbao also have plans to replace Laporte but they are waiting for Manchester City to conclude the operation before they can sign a replacement.
