Rangers manager Graeme Murty has explained that new signing Jason Cummings is full of confidence at the moment.

The striker, who joined Rangers from Nottingham Forest on a loan deal until the end of the season earlier in the month, scored the Light Blues’ second goal in their 2-1 win over Ross County on Sunday after coming off the bench.

It was Cummings’ first goal for Rangers, with the 22-year-old yet to start a game for the Scottish giants; he came on as a similar late substitute in the Gers’ 2-0 win over Aberdeen last week.

And Murty, who believes Cummings is bursting with confidence at the moment, however thinks the Scotland international still has scope for improvement fitness wise.

“He thinks he will be taking everything from now on – be it penalties, free-kicks, corners and goal kicks”, Murty told Rangers TV, when asked about Cummings.

“He’s not lacking confidence certainly.

“He’s a bubbly guy, he’s loving life at the moment.

“I asked him to go and get a goal, he got his goal, but I thought we can get him fitter and stronger.

“Cummings actually moaned at Daniel [Candeias] ironically for not setting him up.

“And then he goes to score a really, really good goal.”

It remains to be seen if Cummings, who has a solitary cap for Scotland to his name, starts against Fraserburgh in a Scottish Cup contest on Wednesday.

He only joined Nottingham Forest from Hibernian last summer, but struggled to make an impact down south.
