Monaco president Vadim Vasilyev has insisted that Arsenal and Liverpool wing target Thomas Lemar will not be leaving the club in the final hours of the winter window.

Arsenal and Liverpool came close to signing the Frenchman last summer towards the end of the window, but he decided against leaving the Principality side despite the speculation.

The Gunners have again shown interest in the France international and there is talk that Liverpool have identified Lemar as Philippe Coutinho’s successor at Anfield.

However, Vasilyev made it clear that Lemar will stay a Monaco player until at least the end of the season.

And unlike last year, the club are not going to entertain late offers for the Frenchman and will decline any bids from big clubs.

“Lemar will stay until the end of the season”, the Monaco vice-president told French radio station RMC.

Asked about if they receive offers from Arsenal or Liverpool, Vasilyev said: “It’s not on our agenda. We’ll say no because the goals are clear.

“Without major players such as Lemar, we won’t succeed.”

Lemar’s future is expected to again come under the scanner when the summer transfer window rolls out.
