Michy Batshuayi’s former Standard Liege team-mate Igor de Camargo has indicated that the Chelsea striker lacks the attitude needed at the moment to become the best.

Batshuayi has been playing second fiddle since joining Chelsea from Marseille in 2016 and is keen to leave the club before Wednesday’s transfer deadline to play regular football.

Several clubs have shown an interest in signing him, but the Belgian has made up his mind about moving to Borussia Dortmund and is waiting for Chelsea to sign a replacement at the moment.

Ahead of a proposed move to the Bundesliga, the striker is being closely assessed in Germany, where he is expected to replace Dortmund's prolific Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who could join Arsenal.

And former Borussia Monchengladbach striker Di Camargo, who played alongside Batshuayi at Standard Liege, feels the hitman lacks the mentality to be one of the best.

He insisted that there is no doubt that Batshuayi has the talent to make it big, but is unsure whether he is prepared to realise his full potential.

Speaking about Batshuayi, Di Camargo told German daily Bild: “He can be the best – if he wants.

“Unfortunately, he does not always want it.

“I have always tried to help him but he rarely listened.”

Despite working under Antonio Conte for more than 18 months, Batshuayi has struggled to earn the Chelsea manager’s trust.
