Feyenoord are unlikely to listen to any offers for Newcastle United target Nicolai Jorgensen in the last two days of the winter transfer window.

Newcastle did not act on Feyenoord’s ultimatum to meet their financial demands for Jorgensen before Monday evening and the striker is now unlikely to leave the club this month.

According to Dutch daily De Telegraaf, Feyenoord are aware of the difficulties they are going to face if they sell the Dane in the last hours of the transfer window and are unlikely to allow him to leave.

The Dutch club do not want to panic and overpay for a replacement even if they receive a hefty transfer fee for Jorgensen’s departure and are now keen to hold on to him.

Jorgensen has also been playing regularly this season at Feyenoord and is almost certain to lead the line for Denmark in next summer’s World Cup, so he has very little motivation to push through a transfer.

The striker could have doubled his wages at Newcastle but for the moment the transfer looks unlikely because of Feyenoord’s reluctance to enter into the market so late in the window.

However, it remains to be seen whether Newcastle look to tempt Feyenoord one last time by putting in an offer close to their €25m valuation of the player.
