Rangers manager Graeme Murty has insisted that Alfredo Morelos will be part of his squad on Wednesday night despite speculation over his future and claims the Gers have no need to sell the striker.

The Colombian striker has been one of the few signings from last summer who have worked out for Rangers this season and is the club’s top scorer with 13 goals in all competitions.

However, his future has come under the scanner ahead of Wednesday transfer deadline and it has emerged that Rangers have rejected a £7m bid for the striker from a Chinese Super League club.

Murty is aware of Morelos’ ambition of playing for Columbia and believes he can achieve that by consistently scoring for Rangers.

The Rangers boss also stressed that a big money bid does not make a difference if it makes no football sense for him to lose a player of the Morelos’ quality.

He stressed that despite all the rumours, the striker will be part of the squad to face Fraserburgh on Wednesday night in the Scottish FA Cup.

Murty said in a press conference when asked about Morelos: “Alfredo is the top scorer and has adjusted to our club very well.

"He wants to get into the Colombian national squad and he can do it here.

“China won't be the only league with clubs interested.

“We are not in a situation where we have to sell any player. We will decide each case on a footballing decision.

“I won't allow a player to leave just because there are lot of zeros. We would only allow a player to leave with a suitable replacement lined up.

“My valuation of Morelos is high, Alfredo is in the squad for tomorrow night and will be travelling up with the team.”

Rangers paid just £1m last summer to sign the Colombian from HJK Helsinki.
